Down and out private detective Harry Monday gets called in on a case and soon finds himself mistaken for a psychiatrist. Three people murdered at the Shady Meadows Country Club, "A place where old polyester goes to die", he surmises. A prima-dona president, a Wall Street ad man, a surly police sergeant and an astrological moon child soon muddy up the waters until Harry finds himself alone in the lobby, in the line of fire, in the dark.
Audience members may be allowed to view the scene of the crime during intermission.
